Autumn Regatta general information
At the regatta
Once in the boating area, please report to the Secretary's tent to collect your numbers and pay, if you have not already done so. Numbers will not be given without payment.
Crews should be in the boat marshalling area behind Noah’s Gateway at least 20 minutes before race time, please find your opposition and move to the Gateway together.
If you wish to practise there is plenty of water beyond the start, but please note that you will be out of earshot of the start marshals, and therefore still responsible for being at the start on time.
When going afloat please follow the marshals' instructions - a steady flow of crews going on and off the water is essential if we are to keep to time; everybody, including you, will enjoy the day more if we finish on time.
Crews going to the start should keep to the Meadow or boating side of the river until asked to come through the start area. Please watch out for crews going wide as they race.
Race times
Where we have been told of doubling up, or boat sharing, we have tried to accommodate it in the timetable.
Our regatta relies on competitors being flexible. Should there be a clash of race times we shall ask you to contact your opponents and agree a new time. We reserve the right to enforce the timetable.
If you wish to boat from off the regatta field then we expect you to have an ‘agent’ on site with a mobile phone so that if the race time needs changing they can contact you, note if you are not represented and we bring the race forward, you will still be disqualified if you turn up late for the new time.
Safety and circulation
There will be a qualified doctor on site and we shall be able to summon extra assistance should it be required.
We have realised that wherever we position a safety launch it will be in the wrong place. We are therefore relying on throw lines at the umpires’ and marshals’ positions should anyone get into difficulty. In the event of capsize, STAY WITH YOUR BOAT and wait for assistance. If, but only if you feel able to do so, swim with your boat to the edge of the river ~ aim for the Meadow side which is quite shallow. The river is about 2.5 metres deep in the middle.
