Town Bumps 2006 success

23 Jul 2006

After an outstanding week in the Town Bumps 2006, the Nines were delighted to celebrate on Friday night by lifting the John Jenner trophy for the very first time. Based on average number of places moved per boat, the trophy is harder to win for larger clubs. With ten boats rowing (five each for men and women), gaining the trophy is a remarkable achievement.

A number of mens crews moved up the river to do their part towards the win, but the stars of the week were the women's squad. Their first boat stayed Head while the second, third and fourth boats all went up four places, leading to an astounding four crews all getting blades in one year.

With both men's and women's squads showing great enthusiasm and a lot of continuity as we move towards the late summer season, there is every chance of many more good results and hopefully a very strong winter season. Well done to everyone across both squads for the extraordinary success following on from a year of hard work and squad development.
