27-May-2007 - Nines Spring Regatta: Results

Results are up! Many thanks to all those who competed, despite the weather. We had a few firsts this year, as far as we can tell from recent records:

About half of the winning crews have yet to collect their prizes for winning main or plate events. I think I've got this right - the list at the time of writing looks like: M2 plate (Girton 1), W1 (Jesus 1), W2 (Peterhouse 1), WL (Jesus 3), W CRA/Grad (Champion Of The Thames), M CRA/Grad plate (Champion Of The Thames, Jones) and last but not least, W CRA/Grad plate (X-Press, Rodgers). Either way, if the results say you've won something and you've not collected your prize, drop over to the Nines boathouse and we'll be happy to present them to you.

Want to row this summer?

If you're looking for a place to row this season, our growing squad presents a great opportunity to be able to come into the club and be part of summer crew formation. There's the chance to really make your mark, improve your technique, fitness and get some excellent racing under your belt.

Building renovation

With a large number of model 'C' and 'D' ergos and ergo slides, a well stocked weights room and a good cross section of boats, the club is already lucky enough to enjoy some of the best town club equipment on the Cam, all under one roof. The upstairs facilities have never quite worked as well as they should though, especially the small women's changing room.

The women's changing room has undergone extension into the old erg room. The reduced size erg room remains for those wanting to train in a more private space while the current relaxation area near the bar is to be taken over for training, with great views through the glass frontage over Midsummer Common in summer and much better ventilation using the sliding doors. Eventually, a new staircase will provide general member's access to the top floor, which will become a new relaxation area leaving downstairs with plastic chairs for those in wet or mucky kit. We'll still use the main bar area for bigger social events, folding ergs against the walls on such occasions.

Club overview

Our large and competitive squad environment prepares our athletes for all the events we attend throughout the year. All standards of rower are welcome and we offer everyone an exciting opportunity to develop skills and abilities.

We have a strong coaching system which, when coupled with our extensive training facilities, gives any member the best possible opportunity to succeed. Call us on weekday evenings on 01223 367521, or get in touch by e-mail.
